Not all goods and services require the same threshold population, the price, frequency of purchase and required number of customers determine if the goods and services are high order, middle order, or low order. High order goods are large threshold population expensive or rare purchased items, found in large cities like car dealership and cancer treatment. Middle order goods are big threshold population and are items that we need time to time can be found in cities and large towns are products like shoes, clothing, and the doctors office. Low order goods are small threshold population they are items we frequently need and can be in towns and villages they are products like convince store, restaurant, and bank. Multiplier effect is a good indictor on the importance of a basic industry within a community. We can estimate the effect of a business opening or closing on a community.
